TEC Centre And Research

The TEC Centre aims to develop programmes that are open, multidisciplinary and practical. Therefore researchers (experienced or otherwise) are welcome to become involved in these initiatives and those not in research but experienced in practical development in their educational role, are also encouraged to participate. As embedded computing is relevant, either directly or indirectly to many areas of research and development in CIT, multidisciplinary projects are encouraged and the Centre will focus on development and prototyping across a wide span of application domains.
By becoming involved in applied research and development initiatives, such as those proposed by the TEC Centre, strong partnerships can be forged with local enterprise and new industry-led development programmes can be established, thereby solidifying CIT's reputation for industry-focused education. Some of the benefits associated with becoming involved in the TEC Centre, for both CIT staff and students, are :
  • Access to the growing regional know-how in embedded computing for varied applications.
  • Support for new approaches to innovation and for those seeking competitive grant funding.
  • Opportunities to become involved in multidisciplinary development and research.
  • Access to the Centre's technical expertise including future facilities and equipment.
  • Supportive environment for the development of innovative prototypes and new systems.
  • Opportunities to contribute to the technical knowledge base and expertise in Cork.
The TEC Centre also welcomes partnerships with other research groups/institutions. In the long-term, more can be achieved collectively rather than individually and as the TEC Centre already has strong partnerships with the Centre for Adaptive Wireless Systems (CAWS) and the Adaptive Control Group (ACG), a strong technical support network is available, making the TEC Centre an ideal partner for large scale initiatives.
